Hampshire Talented Athlete Scheme (HTAS)
Funding and support services for Hampshire's most talented athletes.
Competing at the highest level in any sport is an expensive business. Travel, equipment, training, coaching and physiotherapy – the costs soon add up. Hampshire County Council’s Culture Communities and Rural Affairs and Children Services Departments, in partnership with Southampton City Council and Portsmouth City Council have developed the Hampshire Talented Athlete Scheme to give Hampshire’s most gifted athletes access to as much support as possible to help them reach their full potential.

Where does the support come from?
In the lead up to London 2012, Hampshire County Council, Southampton City Council and Portsmouth City Council want to support their elite athletes. Funding is provided by the councils whilst Hampshire’s three major bus companies: Stagecoach, First Group and Blue Star provide free travel. DC Leisure along with several other providers open their leisure centre doors for free to allow Hampshire Talented Athletes to progress with their training.
All these companies have committed long term to the project and have brought their resources and more importantly their passion for sport to support Hampshire’s future sporting stars.
